Uroš Gorenc, principal, clarinet and saxophone teacher
Born in 1981, graduated as an academic musician and professor of clarinet, he began his musical career at the junior music school in Kamnik in the class of professor Rad Rijavec, who even then saw him as a promising musician and accompanied him to quite a few national competitions, where he received high awards, but above all he instilled in him a joy for music and the clarinet.
He continued his musical education at the high school of music in Ljubljana and finished with the renowned music pedagogue Professor Dušan Sodja. During this time, he was a member of larger and smaller musical ensembles, such as the Domžale-Kamnik Symphony Orchestra, the clarinet quartet, the Kamnik City Band, and for a short time he also played in the folk music ensemble. As a soloist and member of chamber groups, he took part in competitions, tours and recordings in various places in Slovenia and also gave solo recitals.
After finishing secondary music high school, he continued his studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under the renowned clarinet professor Jože Kotar, who encouraged and directed him to test his skills at international and national clarinetist competitions. During this time, he took part in quite a few international competitions: in 2006, he took second place at the international clarinetist competition in the Italian city of Carlino, in 2008, he took second place at the international competition in Krško, and in the same year, he took third place at the international clarinetist competition in Novi Sad.
During his studies, he studied in Zagreb with the renowned professor Milko Pravdić and at master classes with distinguished professors such as Philippe Cuper from France, Robert Spring from the USA, Stefan Harg from Sweden, Guy Deplus from France, Paolo Beltramini from Italy and Robert Riseling from London.
Already during his studies, due to his adaptability, self-confidence and perseverance, he was a member of the Slovenian Army Orchestra, collaborated with the Slovenian Police Orchestra and was a member of the Slovenian Clarinet Orchestra.
He imparted his knowledge to younger students at music schools in Kamnik and Jesenice as a clarinet, saxophone, recorder teacher and leader of a youth brass band, and as a music teacher at Ledina and Bežigrad primary schools in Ljubljana. As a recorder and clarinet teacher, he also teaches at the Edgar Willems Music School in Ljubljana.
Uroš Gorenc is a desirable pedagogue because he inspires students to the art of music as performers, listeners and competitors. He knows how to motivate students and encourage them to compare their knowledge in international and national competitions. In 2009, student Martina Strasser took first place at the international clarinetist competition in Požarevac, in 2010 in Belgrade, she also took first place, in the same year, at the international clarinetist competition in Novi Sad, student Uroš Planinc took first place. In 2019, Ivan Avanzo received the first prize in Varaždin.
Uroš Gorenc also established himself as the organizer and conductor of the DKD Solidarnost Kamnik Wind Orchestra and the organizer of the Valentine's concert in 2014, 2015, 2016, which he performed with this orchestra. He also successfully leads the DKD Solidarnost Men's Choir in Kamiko.
Because as a pedagogue he knows that it is often not possible to approach young people from different family backgrounds with musical education alone, he received additional training at the Faculty of Education to provide social-pedagogical assistance to children and young people with deficits in individual areas of learning and with emotional and behavioral problems. problems.
