Let's keep the folk song
LET'S SING THE LOVE OF HOME, NATURE AND FELLOW HUMANS!
We probably all know what a folk song is, at least its definition and its origin. But what does folk song really mean? What does it mean to us?
Many confessional folk songs sing of love for home, love for nature, fellow man and God. You could say that they encourage us to do good and they call us to continue to spread love and goodness. A simple lesson, yet so true.
Let's just remember how life used to be. Cooperation at home and at work, mutual help, all of which was accompanied almost always and everywhere by a song. Just think.. A song for a birthday, music in church, songs by the home hearth, songs at work, and those for children, songs for dancing, festive songs and those for rituals... And we haven't even begun to list them. How often do we sing a song to each other today? Do we sing to ourselves when we wake up? Do we sing when we walk and when we do any work? How about at least for the holidays, we sing then? But when spring comes, or the full moon...?
Let the answer to the questions be: yes. Yes, we sing! Because it relaxes us, makes us happy and connects us. Because at the same time we are creative, joyful and happy - in company or alone. Let's preserve what was given to us from the cultural treasury of our ancestors and let's continue to develop our own expression. Let's sing, dance, rejoice, socialize and cooperate, love each other. Let's sing about love for everyone and be ourselves like a song. Let's relax and let our voice run free. Let's be free and joyful.
Let's find out what our ancestors tell us. Their songs have survived to this day without being written down by anyone in the distant past. Let's indulge in their story. Let's listen to them. Let's listen to what they tell us, what they teach us. Listen to them with us. On Friday, we will introduce you to music through our eyes. We have prepared for you a wreath of folk songs in a fresh spring guise. May music fill you with joy and happiness. Let's sing together!
In addition to the mentors of the Prima Music Center, the 20th traditional solidarity meeting in the hall above the Veronika cafe in Kamnik, on April 12 at 7 p.m., will also feature the DKD Solidrnost Men's Choir and the DKD Solidarnost Women's Choir, so there will certainly be no shortage of songs.
You are cordially invited to listen and sing with us!
