ONLY MIKUS - VIOLIN LEARNING
Only Mikuš started learning the violin at the Kamnik School of Music, with professors Anja Skalar and Janez Klobčar. Already during these first years, he began to enjoy playing in the string orchestra and occasional chamber groups as part of the lessons, which is why he started playing in the Domžale-Kamnik Symphony Orchestra, where he continues to play today after more than ten years. . After working in the orchestra for several years as a violinist, he also took on the role of sheet music archivist, and increasingly began to actively participate in the general organization of the society and concert projects.
Since he was increasingly interested in music, after studying at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, he began to study musicology at the Faculty of Arts, where he got to know the theoretical-compositional, as well as the psychological, sociological and historical side of music, which was less well known before. His knowledge of the former was particularly reflected in the occasional writing of arrangements for occasional string and mixed chamber ensembles in which he participates. During his studies, he also started working as a concertmaster of the faculty's smaller symphony orchestra, called the Philosophical Philharmonic, under the direction of prof. dr. Gregor Pompet.
As a violinist, he works in various ensembles, especially in the Domžale-Kamnik Symphony Orchestra, as well as in the Philosophical Philharmonic Orchestra, various occasional mixed and string chamber instrumental ensembles, and as an occasional substitute in orchestras in Ljubljana, Škofja Loka and the surrounding area.
As part of his long-term work in the Domžale-Kamnik Symphony Orchestra, he had the opportunity to participate in projects of various genres, from instrumental classical and sacred instrumental-vocal music, through musicals, operas and film music to Slovenian pop and rock music. He had the opportunity to play with many well-known names in the Slovenian music scene, conductors Simon Krečič and Slaven Kulenović, violinists in the ranks of the orchestra, Karl Žužko, long-time concertmaster of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, and Janez Podlesko, professor of violin at the Academy of Music and long-time concertmaster of the orchestra Slovenian Philharmonic, violinists and composers Matija Krečič and many soloists, singers Mirjam Kalin, Urško Arlič Gololičič, Jadranko Juras, Aljaž Farasin, Gregor Ravnik, Mojco Bitenc, Eva Černe, ... as well as solo violinist Anja Bukovec.
