Learning to sing - solo singing, popular singing, jazz singing
SOLO SINGING
natural, classical and jazz
Much could be said about singing, as it is one of the oldest forms of music. Singing was an important part of the everyday life of our ancestors, who interpreted the world around them with song, passed the time with it, or used it for special ritual purposes and above all for healing. When singing, the instrument is ourselves, our vocal cords and the whole body, which participates in the creation and shaping of the sound.
The term solo singing is used in education or in the fields of education to distinguish individual singing (usually classical singing) from choral singing or other genres.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
Students of all ages can enroll in the solo singing program, but due to their physical development, the programs differ slightly depending on the age or each individual. Usually, the youngest students learn mainly natural singing, which is relaxed and based on relaxation of the whole body and mind, without coercion, the voice is freed from constriction. In this program, students get to know the whole body as their own musical instrument, find out what all affects the sound, the color of the voice, learn the correct body posture and use of the voice, get to know the different shades of their voice and the different sounds they can create with the voice. The program includes the vocal technique of correct singing, body posture, breathing and, as already mentioned, getting to know the abilities of one's voice, getting acquainted with musical notation and learning about different techniques and styles of singing.
For older students who have already developed their own voice, in addition to natural singing, we naturally learn classical singing, which includes many details and instructions for a successful singer. It starts with body posture, because we are the instrument when singing, so we pay attention to the correct posture, positioning of the legs, spine, hips, and shoulders right from the beginning. We get to know all the elements of natural singing and voice relaxation, which we continue to practice while learning classical. In addition to natural singing, older students therefore become more familiar with classical singing and its singing technique, which is somewhat more precisely defined, some also know it under the name of operatic singing. Students get to know the voice and its capabilities and learn new ways of singing, performing, performing. They get to know the most important historical literature in the field of singing, get to know important composers and turning points for this musical genre. Musical ear is developed and notes and musical notation are learned (if the student does not yet know them), and later we also perform popular compositions and get acquainted with other styles and ways of singing. The students' creativity and their overall personal and musical development are encouraged throughout, the students create their own compositions with lyrics, learn to sing them and perform them at a concert.
Singing is certainly one of the broadest areas of music, as it has existed for a very long time and in various forms it still exists and even continues to develop! At Music Center Prima, we want to adapt to each individual, their wishes and abilities, so we allow everyone to enroll in the program, but with slightly adapted content. At the request of the individual, even in the singing program, learning can later be directed to a specific style. We usually first learn the basics of natural and/or classical singing well and then train our voice in other genres.
Let singing be heard again, as it used to be, to restore our health, joy, and strength!
