Learning the flute - transverse flute - Prima Music Center
The flute, which belongs to the woodwind family, also known as the flute in Slovenian, is considered one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. We all know the flute from Divji babs, which bears witness to the artistic activity of prehistoric man and is the oldest preserved musical instrument made by man and the forerunner of later flutes.
The shape of the flute has evolved and changed throughout history. We know different cases from different parts of the world. The flute is also known as a simple musical instrument of shepherds who made their flutes out of wood or branches. According to Hindu tradition, Krishna himself is said to have played it.
However, one of the more popular versions today is the metal transverse flute. Its wooden predecessor in the 17th century then acquired another element – valves, and in the 19th century the metal transverse flute as we know it today was created. The instrument is suitable for performing various musical genres and is known all over the world, which is why we also know many different forms of the flute. Because of its role in the past, it is a special instrument that fills us with energy and inner strength when we play it.
