Learning Guitar - Bass Guitar
A bass guitar, also called an electric bass, is a four-stringed musical instrument that looks a lot like a guitar. It differs from it in size, as it has a longer neck and thicker strings. This is one of the factors that significantly affects the sound. The bass guitar plays the lowest harmonic line in the ensemble or group, which is called counterpoint. In the past, the double bass played the role of bass guitar player, who easily played the aforementioned melodies with a low tone. The need for an electric bass arose with the rise of various music groups, ensembles and especially big bands, where brass, or increasingly loud drums and electrified guitars overpowered the double bass. The researchers initially attached electric magnets to the double bass and cello, and then came up with the idea of an electric bass that could be smaller than the double bass. Due to the new musical capabilities offered by the electric bass guitar, many credit it with a leading role in changing and creating new styles over the past century.
In the Baskitara program, we first get to know the instrument, explore it and compare it with its relatives. This is followed by learning the correct posture and playing with the fingers and developing a musical ear, both rhythmic and melodic. Students learn to play a musical instrument by imitation or the echo technique, later they also get to know musical notation - they get to know notes, learn to read them and recognize other elements of musical notation. The lessons are mostly based on our own creative program with the addition of exercises from other schools, the basis of course is technical exercises, which we practice especially with the bass players in order to more easily tackle more challenging compositions. In addition to technical exercises, the program includes pre-determined songs, but when the student acquires enough knowledge, the teacher also prepares an adaptation of a popular song of his choice. The teacher encourages the students' creativity, directs them to create their own compositions and helps them with this. Students learn to perform independently, they also play in a duo with the teacher and, if desired, in a chamber ensemble. The student acquires the basic skills of playing the bass guitar and a wider musical knowledge, and throughout the school he has support and help available to him, as well as professors who encourage and help him. While playing, students strengthen their mental abilities, concentration, listening to music, sense of teamwork, gain self-confidence and self-confidence, have fun and at the same time relax, and acquire work habits and the will to learn.
