TANJA BENEDIK, singing lessons, piano lessons

Tanja Benedik already experienced the charms of children's singing with Janez Bitenac at an early age. The desire to play the piano led her, as a very "lively child", to GŠ Vič Rudnik to the patient professor Tanja Zrimšek. With a lot of goodwill, this inspired her to pursue music. The next "guru" of instilling love for music was the choirmaster of the primary school choir, prof. Jernej Habjanič. That's when the decision was made - "I'm going to be a teacher". Singing in various choirs and studying at the Department of Music Education and Choir Conducting at the Pedagogical Academy did not lead her to study at school, but to a job in completely different fields, but always while dealing with music.
Since 1993, she has been leading various choirs, one could say that she has largely focused on working with older singers. There are too many prejudices that playing music for the older population is pointless, because it is too late. Her opinion is the opposite. Music is important for the young and a little less young, as it strengthens a person's cognitive and non-cognitive abilities from birth to death.
Throughout the years he works as a choir director, teaches, and stays in touch with musical events. In the meantime, for several years on Radio Slovenija, she prepared shows with children's and choral music, among other things. She is employed at the SIGIC Slovenian Music Information Center, where she also took over the work of the national coordinator for cultural and artistic education in educational institutions for the field of music.
